Testing & Commissioning (Substations)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Testing & Commissioning Engineer to join our expanding business segment in the Middle East. This role is ideal for individuals with a minimum of 3+ years of relevant industry experience in the Testing and Commissioning of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems, particularly in the Distribution & Transmission Substation sector.

As part of our highly skilled team, you will be responsible for the execution of testing and commissioning services for substations (132kV, 220kV, 400kV), utilizing industry-leading test equipment such as Omicron, Doble, and Megger.

Key Responsibilities

• Testing & Commissioning of Distribution & Transmission Substations.

• Proficiency in Primary Testing using Omicron, Doble, and Megger test equipment to ensure operational excellence.

• Technical Supervision & Site Coordination for electrical projects, ensuring all work is executed in compliance with client specifications and safety regulations.

• Conduct site surveys and assess the electrical systems, design elements, and load schedules for new and existing substation facilities.

• Collaborate with local utility organizations to ensure that customer power requirements and specifications are met.

• Ensure adherence to local utility standards for all executed projects.

• Supervise site technicians, ensuring timely project completion and adherence to quality and safety standards.

• Monitor and report progress to the Project Manager on a daily basis.

• Carry out onsite, pre and post energisation commissioning of substation equipment including transformers, tap-changers, switchgear, and protection relays to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards

• Produce commissioning reports, test documentation and update drawings to as built status

• Project a professional image to clients and colleagues

• Contribute to the future success of projects and its clients

Key Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in the Testing, and Commissioning of Transmission Substations (132kV, 220kV & 400kV).

• Proficiency with testing equipment including Omicron, Doble, and Megger for primary testing and protection relay testing.

• Hands-on experience in the testing and commissioning of Substations.

• Strong understanding of international standards and local utility regulations for electrical infrastructure projects.

• Demonstrated ability to supervise site work, manage resources, and coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Previous experience in an electrical contracting company or power transmission and distribution is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

• 3+ years of relevant field experience in Testing & Commissioning.

• UAE Driving License is an added advantage.
